Science is taught within enquiry projects as a driver or enhancer. At times, science may be taught explicitly. The teaching and learning of substantive knowledge is to deepen understanding. The teaching and practice of disciplinary knowledge is to improve skills and to support working scientifically. We use our local environment – Jubilee Garden, beaches, woodland and moorland to gain a deeper understanding of nature. We use ‘Explorify’ to get the children thinking and discussing science, as well as to revisit prior learning.
